What is the D.Pharma Programme?

The Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma) is a career-oriented, two-year program approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). It serves as the gateway for students aiming to enter the pharmaceutical sector quickly. The course focuses on the fundamentals of preparing, dispensing, and the appropriate use of medications.Students undergo rigorous training in well-equipped laboratories, learning everything from human anatomy and biochemistry to the legal regulations governing the sale of drugs. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to register as licensed pharmacists with the State Pharmacy Council.

The scope of D.Pharma is vast and immediately rewarding. The primary benefit is the eligibility to obtain a drug license, allowing graduates to open and operate their own retail or wholesale chemist shops. Additionally, graduates are in high demand as Hospital Pharmacists in both private and government sectors, Medical Representatives (MR), and Production Technicians in pharmaceutical manufacturing units. It also serves as a direct entry point to the 2nd year of B.Pharma (Lateral Entry).

Structure

A PCI-structured curriculum for aspiring pharmacists

The D.Pharma curriculum follows the strict guidelines laid down by the Education Regulations of the Pharmacy Council of India.
A mandatory 500-hour practical training in a recognized hospital or pharmacy is required to complete the diploma.

Note:

  • 1. Merit scholarship is linked with admission date (irrespective of date of result declaration of previous class)
  • 2. Student can avail only one type of merit scholarship scholarship (whichever is higher).
  • 3. Merit Schiolarship Continuation eligibility: Above merit scholarship is only for 1st Year. For continuation of the same in subsequent year, student has to maintain CGPA >= 6.5
  • 4. EAB Scholarship is given in addion to the merit scholarship.
  • 5. To avail scholarship, student must deposit applicable semester fee before the cut-off date for scholarship. If student fail to do so, his/her eligibiity for availing scholarship will be cancelled.
  • 6. Also, to avail merit scholarship, student has to submit supporting documents in original along with 1 set of photocopies.
